ROWAN GABRIELLE, FOUNDING PARTNER & PRESIDENT

The seed was planted over a decade ago, as designer and Organic Leather founder Rowan Gabrielle searched the globe for a leather made from animals raised ethically and organically, and tanned without harmful chemicals.  While the chromium tanning industry increasingly displaced traditional vegetable tanning, traceability in the leather supply chain was becoming scarce.  Unable to find a supplier, Rowan saw the need for a transparent leather with organic origins. She set out in her native UK to source hides from local organic farmers, and tan in traditional facilities without using chemical inputs. In 2006 the first iteration of Organic Leather was born, in partnership with a key farm practicing "beyond organic" methods, and a 500 year old tannery in the English Countryside.  Rowan still uses this traditional UK leather for her jewelry and accessories line O-Leather.

ADAN MALDONADO, PARTNER & CEO                As Rowan was supplying designers with traditional belt leather from the UK, Adan Maldonado was completing his studies in Accessories Design and Business at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.  He discovered Organic Leather much like many other designers, through searching the web for ethically sourced leather to use in his designs.  An ongoing dialog and relationship was formed, and in early 2017 Adan came on board as Partner and CEO of Organic Leather.  Together, Adan and Rowan aim to disrupt the established leather industry by providing designers and end users better alternatives in the materials and goods they choose to purchase.
